I may have confused everyone (imagine that!)....please let me clarify what I meant.
I was hoping that each family could just help create a menu of meals for the week. I don't want someone to have to cook for the entire crew. So when I said we (Mercer's) pick fajitas, that is my suggestion for the menu. Each family would bring what they need/likes for fajitas. We all cook this the same night and then eat together. That way if Logan's fajitas smell way better than my fajitas, I can sneak some of his and let my kids eat my fajitas. My kids won't know the difference. Anyway, Mom and Dad want to do "their" night just a little different. They ACTUALLY WANT to cook for the entire crowd (senility has set in). On this night, we are supposed to bring sides to go with the casserole she wants to cook for all of us. Does this make sense or am I running around in a circle chasing my tail? Just want this to be a "laid back-everyone take it easy-have fun-no fuss" gathering of family and friends. If you ACTUALLY WANT to cook for everyone I don't think anyone will stop you....it's got to be better than what I will be cooking once Bruce has to leave : (
